How many times have you had to stop and ask for directions in your lifetime? For most men out there the answer is hardly ever because we feel so “macho” that we can get anywhere without help. But in today’s expanding road-way systems it’s almost impossible to navigate it with will power alone. In this day and age we don’t have to worry about that because there are so many ways to get from point A to B. You can take so many modes of transportation but the one that is still the most popular is the automobile. Cars these days are so stuffed with technology it’s amazing that we can actually get to where we are heading off to because of all the buttons to play around with. Well I’ve found a great series of GPS units that can cut the hassle out of finding your way for a great price.

The Garmin series of GPS units are a great way to make sure that you don’t get lost. The people over at Garmin have really gotten this car GPS unit down to a science. Now there are many models out there to choose from and some can get very expensive. But for the average motorist who would use this piece of technology once or twice a month the mid-level prices are just fine. The Garmins have a great amount of information in them and will always lead you to where you want to go. They have such a great interactive panels on all of their products. The buttons are big and easily read-able. When punching in addresses to go to it even starts to guess streets and addresses after enough letters have been punched in that would eliminate the other options.

I personally use the Garmin Nuvi 1350LMT model. The screens vary in size depending on the model you get but they all have the ability to change the backlight for a bright daytime during the day so you can read clearly on the road. Or a darker backlight so you’re not blinded on the road at night time. The colors on the screen contrast amazingly so you’ll always know which way that little direction arrow wants you to go.

The units come with a very tough and strong suction cup that sucks directly to the inside of your windshield and they even offer a friction pad to put on your dash if you don’t want it on your windshield (that one’s extra though). They come with a standard AC plug for powering and charging the units and they can be hooked up to your computer to download updates every few years when the roads change.

All in all the Garmin series of GPS units have never let me down and I’ve always gotten to my destination. There have been times when it even detects construction that has been reported to the city and then to the company so it takes me around the fastest way possible. Most of the units have a built in calculator and gas feature to calculate the rough amount of gasoline needed and price it out to get to where you’re going. It can even save features (addresses) like your home address so when you’re going home from that party you just tell it to “Go Home”. Technology is amazing these days and the Garmin series of GPS units are no exception. I highly recommend them to anyone who wants an affordable GPS unit for their car that they can use through rain, sleet, snow, or crazy kids in the back seat.

The Garmin Nuvi 1350LMT is a great product that I own but your mileage may vary and your pocket book may be bigger or smaller depending on how you want to use it.
